Stakes winner My Mane Squeeze tops big Sunday for Audible

Audible got his second stakes winner from his first crop on Sunday afternoon at Aqueduct when My Mane Squeeze drew off in the final furlong of the $100,000 Maid of the Mist to register a three-length win in the race for 2-year-old fillies.

Coupled with Moonlight’s solid second-place finish in Sunday’s Street Sense S. (G3) at Churchill Downs, Audible now has six stakes horses and over $1.1 million in progeny earnings to date, ranking in the top 10 in both categories on the First-Crop sire list.

My Mane Squeeze, who placed in the Joseph A Gimma S. a month ago over this same surface, got a good stalking trip in Sunday’s one-mile affair contested over a fast, but sealed, racetrack. Cara’s Time set a moderate pace and had a 1 ½-length lead over My Mane Squeeze coming into the stretch. The latter had the momentum, however, and wore down the pacesetter to get the win in 1:38.73.

“I’m three generations in with this horse,” said winning breeder/owner William Butler. “Mama Theresa [second dam] is my linchpin here, and In Spite of Mama [first dam] has given me nothing but runners.”

In Spite of Mama has four winners from as many starters, including four-time stakes winner Rotknee, who won the Hudson S. on Sunday’s card.
