Outwork’s brilliant 2-year-old filly Brightwork remained undefeated on Sunday with a five-length win in the $200,000 Adirondack S. (G3) at Saratoga.

Brightwork, who took the $225,000 Debutante S. at Ellis Park last time out, has won all three of her starts and earned $279,051 to establish herself as the top horse in the juvenile fillies division.

Brightwork broke well and took up a spot in third between horses behind a pair of dueling frontrunners. Content to hold her spot until turning for home, Brightwork swung wide and willingly ran past the leaders in midstretch, then drew off late to finish the 6 ½-furlongs in 1:16.85 on a fast track.

“She broke so good. The outside horse, [Streaming Now], went and the horse inside, [Here U Come Again] had speed, too,” said winning rider Irad Ortiz, Jr. “They went ahead of me and I sat right behind them and my filly relaxed. I waited for my time to go and tip her out in the stretch. No one was close to me. I tipped her out and she was ready. She responded. She deserves all the credit.”

Brightwork races for WSS Racing, LLC. She sold for $95,000 as a weanling at the 2021 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Mixed sale. She was bred by Wynnstay, INC and H. Allen Poindexter and is a half-sister to stakes-placed Quiet Company.

A perennial top-10 sire among his peers, Outwork holds a top-10 spot on this year’s Fourth-Crop list with over $2.4 million in progeny earnings and by stakes horses.
