First-Crop sire Yoshida’s initial 2-year-old offerings at the 2023 OBS March Sale included a filly that sold for $180,000 during Monday’s opening session of the three-day auction.
Consigned by Thorostock LLC and cataloged as hip No. 268, the dark bay filly was scooped up by Japanese buyer Yoshiro Tsukada.
The filly’s deep female family includes third dam Great Intentions, a multiple Grade 2 winner, and fourth dam Packet, who was a three-time stakes winner and the granddam of Grade 1 winner Karlovy Vary.
Yoshida, who earned more than $2.5 million in his career, was the rare horse who won Grade 1 races on both dirt and turf. A direct descendant of Sunday Silence, Yoshida stands for $10,000 S&N.
