Colonel John six figure Keeneland weanlings

A pair of weanlings colts from the first crop of WinStar stallion Colonel John topped the six figure mark during day 3 of the Nov. 7-17 Keeneland November sale. Colonel John bankrolled more than $1.7 million in a stellar career that included wins in Travers S. (G1), Santa Anita Derby (G1) and Sham S. (G3). A stakes winner on turf, dirt and synthetic, Colonel John entered stud in 2010.

Hip No. 479 caught the eye of Susan Casner to the tune of $110,000. The bay colt, named Popcorn Colonel, was consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, Agent. He is out of the Storm Cat mare Sweet November, who is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Richter Scale and Grade 3 winner Outperformance.

Hip No. 604 brought even more interest, selling for $170,000 to Walnut Hill Stables from the Blue Water Sales, LLC agency. The bay colt has seven siblings that are winners, including the stakes winning filly Clear Destiny. The dam Crystal Shard comes from a family of black-type runners such as Grade 1 winner One of a Klein and Grade 2 winner Withallprobability.
