My Sweet Addiction takes Vanity to become Tiznow’s 13th Grade One winner

Tiznow got his 13th lifetime Grade 1 winner on Saturday when My Sweet Addiction rallied back to win the 1 1/8-mile Vanity S. by a length in 1:49.73. My Sweet Addiction joins an elite group that includes the likes of Well Armed, Colonel John, Tizway and Folklore who also reached the pinnacle of racing success for their sire.

My Sweet Addiction was making her first start beyond a mile and a sixteenth in the Vanity, but Hall of Fame rider Mike Smith let her go to the front right out of the gate. After getting the half-mile in :48.75 seconds, with a trio of pursuers about a length behind, My Sweet Addiction was confronted by heavy favorite Warren’s Venada.

Smith rallied his mount, and she regained the lead in mid-stretch to hold off a late charge by Gas Total (BRZ) to win by a length.

“I Let her decide the strategy she wants to use. I just go with her and it works.  She brought her A game today,” Smith said on TVG afterward.

My Sweet Addiction, who is trained by Marty Jones for breeder/owner Pamela Ziebarth, placed in the Desert Stormer S. last year. The consistent 5-year-old is 4-2-3 in 10 starts. She more than doubled her lifetime earnings to $328,106.

My Sweet Addiction is out of Healthy Addiction, a four-time graded stakes winner of over $1 million.
