Bella Road is 10th SW for Bellamy Road

Bella Road took the fast lane to the winner’s circle, speeding along the rail en route to victory in the $75,000 Hawkeyes H. (VIDEO) on June 8 at Prairie Meadows.

The dark bay filly from the first crop by Bellamy Road was winning her second consecutive start beyond a mile and her first in an added-money event. She becomes the 10th stakes winner from the first two crops by Bellamy Road, whose ability to sire stakes winners is at the top of his siring crop, behind only Bernardini ($150,000 fee) and War Front ($60,000 fee).

Bella Road’s talent and tenacity were on full display in the Hawkeyes. Breaking first in the field of eight, she sped right to the rail, then set all the fractions until tackled on the turn by previous stakes winner Someplace Else. The older mare poked her head in front with a furlong to go, but Bella Road dug deep, and was drawing clear at the finish. Final victory margin was three-quarters of a length.

Bella Road races for her breeder, Black Oak Farm, and is trained by Ray Tracy Jr. Out of a mare by Cryptoclearance and with a second dam by Halo, she has compiled a record of 12-3-2-0 and $107,262 in two racing seasons.

Bellamy Road has now sired the earners of more than $4,300,000. He stands for $20,000 live foal, payable when foal stands and nurses.
