With a 2013 covering sire average of $255,625, WinStar Farm’s first-year sire Bodemeister topped all North American freshman sires ranked by average.
Bodemeister also had the only seven-figure mare in foal to a first-year sire when Careless Jewel brought a winning bid of $1,850,000 at the Fasig-Tipton November sale.
Bodemeister had a total of 16 in-foal mares sell to date in 2013, with a median price of $145,000. Bred to 173 mares in 2013, Bodemeister will stud fee for 2014 will remain unchanged at $30,000 LFS&N.
