Cayllano still undefeated after stakes debut

Bluegrass Cat’s 2-year-old filly Cayllano rolled to an eye-catching 8 1/2-length in the $50,000 White Creek S. [VIDEO] July 4 at Delaware Park. With more than $2 million in progeny earnings, Bluegrass Cat ranks fourth on the 2012 Third-crop sire list. His 53 winners this year also rank him in the top 10.

Bred in Kentucky by WinStar Farm LLC, Cayllano broke his maiden by nine lengths on June 11 at Indiana Downs. Shipped to Delaware Park by trainer Tom Amoss, Cayllano battled in a three-way duel until shaking free just before the head of the stretch. She drew off from the field in the lane and eased up in the late stages to get the 5 1/2-furlongs in 1:04.55.

Cayllano has won $84,000 in her two starts. She is owned by Gold Mark Farm, who bought her for $90,000 at the 2011 Fasig-Tipton Summer yearling sale.
