Dance to Bristol easily in $100K Skipat S.

Speightstown’s speedy 4-year-old filly Dance to Bristol was an easy winner in Friday’s $100,000 Skipat S. at Pimlico Race Course. The 4 3/4-length victory was her fourth straight and also her fourth lifetime stakes score.

The prohibitive 3-5 favorite, Dance to Bristol tracked the leaders in third for the better part of a half mile, then engaged the frontrunners at the top of the stretch before drawing off under Xavier Perez. The final time for the six furlongs was 1:11.86.

“We were sitting where we wanted,” said Perez. “The ‘1’ and the ‘2’ horses were fighting it out. I just wanted her to stay on and relax. At the three-eighths pole, I put pressure on my horse and she took off running. She gave me more when I tapped her left-handed down the stretch. The last sixteenth, I looked back and started celebrating.”

Dance to Bristol has rewarded her owner Copperville Farm in nearly every one of her 15 lifetime starts, sporting a 7-7-0 record and earning $410,880. The chestnut filly was bred in Kentucky by Mr. and Mrs. David Garner.
