A very rough stretch run wasn’t enough to stop Fire With Fire from earning his second stakes win of 2013 in Sunday’s $75,000 Bull Dog S. at Fresno. Fire With Fire is one of 10 stakes horses by Distorted Humor who have earned at least $100,000 this year.
In the nine furlong Bull Dog, the 5-year-old gelding had to alter course in the stretch, gamely fighting on to finish a length behind Positive Response, who was disqualified to fourth by the stewards.
Fire With Fire, who won the Joseph Grace H. in August, has now earned $335,644 for owner David Heerensperger. Out of the multiple stakes-placed Cosmic Fire, Fire With Fire is a half-brother to the $1.4 million earner Cosmonaut.
