Fearsome steps clear in Charles Town Dash

Fearsome’s three-length win in the $50,000 Charles Town Dash H. on Saturday night kicked off a stakes daily double for his sire Speightstown. Dance to Bristol came home an easy winner about a half hour later in the $200,000 Sugar Maple S. at the West Virginia oval.

Four-year-old Fearsome wasted little time asserting himself in the 4 1/2-furlong Dash, scooting right to the front to go up a length after a quarter mile in a lively 21.58 seconds. The dark bay colt drew away around the turn then rolled down the lane to win his stakes debut by three lengths to stop the timer in 50.67 (VIDEO).

Fearsome, owned by Winners Circle Partners X, was a $55,000 purchase at the 2011 Fasig-Tipton Select 2-year-olds in training sale. With Saturday’s win, Fearsome is 6-2-2 in 15 starts, earning $126,481. He is one of six winners out of Miss Valiant, whose siblings include multiple Grade 1 winner Fleet Renee and 1995 Del Mar Futurity (G2) winner Future Quest.
