Foolish Humor named winner of Monmouth Park’s Colleen S.

Distorted Humor got his newest stakes winner on Sunday at Monmouth Park when the 2-year-old filly Foolish Humor was awarded the victory in the $75,000 Colleen S. after being soundly bumped in mid-stretch by Miss J McKay.

After contesting a very rapid pace with Strongerthanuknow early in the five-furlong turf affair, the duo were joined by Miss J McKay to their outside coming into the stretch. Shortly thereafter, Miss J McKay veered in sharply, bumping Foolish Humor. After review by the stewards, Foolish Humor was awarded the win.

“I think I would have won the race if (Miss J McKay) didn’t interfere with us like that even though that horse seemed to have a lot of momentum,” said jockey Paco Lopez. “You can’t tell for sure. But she hit me and then I bumped the horse inside me (Strongerthanuknow) pretty hard.”

“From the first few breezes I knew she was going to be a nice one,” added trainer Wesley Ward. “She did everything right. She’s very quick. She is going to have a big future.”

Foolish Humor is now two-for-three lifetime and has earned $89,000 for Andrew Farm. She is the first foal out of Foolish Cause, who is a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner and $1.6 million earner Get Stormy.

Bred by Gabriel Duignan et al, Foolish Humor sold for $200,000 at the 2018 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Summer Yearling sale.
