Golden Ticket all business at Prairie Meadows

Golden Ticket cruised to an eight length victory in the $100,000 Prairie Meadows H. on Saturday night to give Speightstown his second stakes winner of the day. Speightstown’s progeny have pocketed more than $6.6 million in 2013, second best on the North American earners list.

Golden Ticket, winner of the Grade 1 Travers S. last year at Saratoga, ran like the prohibitive 1-9 he was on Saturday. There was really little doubt as he controlled the pace from the outset. Tiz Ready and Worldly both gave chase for the first mile, but Golden Ticket repelled them with ease to draw clear as he pleased while well in hand under Terry Thompson.

Bred by WinStar Farm, Golden Ticket is owned by the Magic City Thoroughbred Partners and trained by Ken McPeek. With a record of 5-5-3 from 18 starts, Golden Ticket’s has grossed $896,323. The now 4-year-old colt sold for $100,000 at the 2011 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
