Katy Now captures first stakes win

Katy Now broke into the ranks of stakes winners with a 2 3/4-length victory in the $60,000 Dispute S. Sept. 30 at Belmont Park. The 4-year-old filly is the eighth stakes winner of 2011 for her sire Tiznow; she also placed in a pair of stakes this August at Saratoga.

After stalking in second for the first half of the one mile Dispute, Katy Now moved to the front spot nearing the quarter pole, drawing off in the lane to win under mild urging. The final time of 1:36.72 earned her a career best 92 Beyer Speed Figure.

Katy Now was bred in Kentucky by White Fox Farm. She is now 5-1-2 in 13 starts with earnings of $210,012 for her owner Mill House. Her dam Katy Kat also earned just over $210,000, winning the Bayou Breeders’ Cup H. Katy Now sold for $175,000 at the 2008 Keeneland September yearling sale.
