Rush Now speeds home in Spend A Buck

Tiznow’s 3-year-old son Rush Now controlled the pace from the outset on the way to a 4 1/4-length win in the $75,900 Spend A Buck S. May 22 at Monmouth Park. This was the first stakes win of 2011 for the bay sophomore, who won the $75,000 Dover S. at Delaware Park as a juvenile.

Rush Now, the even-money favorite in the 1 mile and 70 yard contest, had little trouble getting to the lead under Joe Bravo. He opened up two and a half lengths after a quarter mile, then maintained the margin until the late stages, when he widened to coast home an easy winner in 1:40.67, earning him a career-best Beyer Speed Figure of 97.

“He’s a nice 3-year-old,” said Bravo. “He just galloped around there. The hardest part of the race was pulling him up.”

Rush Now sports a record of 4-1-1 from nine starts. He has earned $158,765 for owners David Cottle and Smart Angle LLP, and trainer Anthony Dutrow. He was bred in Kentucky by Chris and Kirt Cahill from their stakes placed mare Dirty Rush.
