Sparks fly at OBS April Sale for $600,000 Tiznow colt

Spirited bidding during Wednesday’s session of the OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training finished with prominent buyers Solis and Litt coming out on top for a $600,000 Tiznow colt.

The price was the highest paid for a colt during the first two days of the April 23-26 central Florida auction.

Consigned by de Meric Sales, agent, hip No. 321 is out of the graded stakes-placed mare Marquee Delivery, the dam of Grade 1 winner Promises Fulfilled and the multiple stakes winner Marquee Miss.

“He is just a great physical, who breezed really well and has a really nice pedigree,” Solis said. “The mare has thrown two really nice horses. You like a mare who can throw a runner. And he performed.”

During Tuesday’s opening session, Tiznow’s first lot to sell was hip No. 208, consigned by Brick City Thoroughbreds and sold to Red Oak Farm and Newton Anner Stud for $420,000. The colt’s dam, Kateri, is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Tiz Mis Sue (also by Tiznow) and WinStar Farm’s 2018 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint winner and currently undefeated colt Bulletin.

Tiznow has four lots remaining in the OBS sale, which wraps up on Thursday.
