Spring Likeacobra pounces in MSW

Top-10 second-crop sire Spring At Last tallied another 2-year-old maiden special weight winner Saturday at Woodbine, this time on the turf, when Spring Likeacobra surged to the front inside the final furlong to emerge the three-quarter length victor in her second lifetime start.

In Saturday’s contest, Spring Likeacobra came from fifth after a half mile to overtake Morant Bay, prevailing after a long drive to get the six furlongs on the “good” turf in 1:11.18.

Spring Likeacobra was a $100,000 purchase at the March OBS Spring Select 2-year-old sale, where she went to a partnership that includes owner Gary Barber. Bred in Kentucky by Carol and Scott Ricker, the gray filly is a half-sister to Cobra Strike, who was stakes placed as a 2-year-old.

Spring At Last, who stood the 2013 season at WinStar for $15,000, is currently ninth on the Second Crop Sire list, with nearly $1.1 million in progeny earnings.
