Wine Police tops in $150K Remington Sprint

The nation’s leading sire Speightstown got his 18th stakes winner of 2013 on Sunday when Wine Police triumphed by three-quarters of a length in the $150,000 Remington Park Sprint Cup. Five-year-old Wine Police won the $75,000 Distorted Humor S. at Saratoga in 2011 and also placed in the Grade 1 Hopeful S. as a 2-year-old.

Wine Police’s victory – the 27th in a stakes for Speightstown progeny this year – makes the WinStar stallion the first to go over the $9 million mark in 2013.

The winner, owned by Kirk and Judy Robinson, is now 5-1-2 in nine starts, with earnings of $337,037. The Robinsons paid $190,000 for Wine Police at the 2009 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
