Captainofindustry’s valiant nose victory in a one-mile maiden race Saturday at Laurel Park gave first-year sire Pioneerof the Nile his 13th winner on the year, second-most on the 2013 Freshman Sire list.
Pioneerof the Nile’s Saturday results also saw Cairo Prince, who took the Nashua S. (G2) on Nov. 3, battle to a head-bob defeat in the Grade 2 Remsen S., also at Aqueduct.
At Laurel, Captainofindustry tracked the early leaders before taking over near the top of the stretch, then held off a late rally by Supermon to secure the victory.
The Kentucky-bred winner is the first foal out of the unraced mare Skymiler, whose siblings include Grade 3 Discovery H. winner Michael’s Star and four-time stakes winner Seven Four Seven.
