15th winner for Super Saver airs by 15

WinStar-bred Unrivaled showed he was named right, demolishing a maiden special field at Parx Racing by 15 widening lengths on December 23rd.

The two-year-old colt became the 15th juvenile winner by Super Saver, whose first-crop progeny earnings have soared past $1,500,000. Already North America’s leading freshman sire of stakes horses, Super Saver heads into the last week of the racing season just $36,051 behind the leading freshman sire.

Unrivaled was making his second start in 14 days in Tuesday’s one-mile event on the main track. Facing a full field of eight, he took aim four-wide entering the far turn, and was six lengths clear in the blink of an eye. The chart noted he was “under wraps” at the wire.

Owned by Waldorf Racing Stables and trained by Marya Montoya, he has amassed a record of 5-1-2-1 and $42,520, including a second-place effort by a nose at Keeneland. The Kentucky-bred is out of Safely, by Unbridled, and his second dam is a half-sister to Champion War Pass.

Super Saver has sired seven stakes horses, four stakes winners, two Graded stakes winners, all top numbers in his siring crop. He will stand the 2015 season for $35,000 live foal.
