First Constitution delivers Grade 1 win on Halloween

Constitution, already a top Second-Crop sire in North America, is making his impact in a big way in the southern hemisphere as well. He added a third Grade 1 winner in Chile in the month of October on Halloween when First Constitution drew off to an eight-length win in the Gran Criterium Mauricio Serrano Palma (G1).

Despite a very wide trip for the entire 1,900 meters, the 3-year-old Chilean-bred colt was much the best, storming to the lead turning for home to win convincingly, keeping his record intact at 3-for-3 while collecting his first graded win.

Strong Constitution was bred by Haras Don Alberto and is out of the Kitten’s Joy mare Antic (CHI), who is a a sister to a pair of Chilean graded stakes winners.

Constitution is currently atop the Second Crop Sire list with progeny earnings of more than $5.5 million. After breeding 231 mares in 2020, his largest book to date, he will stand the 2021 season for $85,000 S&N.
