Keeneland auction Day 2 report: Constitution

Tuesday delivered another solid day of results for freshman sire Constitution at the Keeneland September Yearling sale, which runs from Sept. 10 through the 23rd.

The spotlight horse for the WinStar stallion was hip No. 344, consigned by Columbiana Farm and purchased for $240,000 by Anderson Stables LLC. Out of the young Dixie Union mare Revered, the bay colt’s is a half-sister to stakes winner Lady’s Laughter and from the family of Grade 1 winners Pure Fun and Chelsey Flower.

Through the first two days of the auction, Constitution’s average of $233,333 is nearly 10 times his advertised stud fee. Remarkably popular with breeders, Constitution serviced more than 310 mares in his first two seasons at stud.

Constitution has a total of 63 lots remaining in the September catalog.
